Astra was a progressive metal and hard rock band from São Paulo, Brazil, active from 2017 until their split-up. Working in the melodic, technically-oriented end of Brazilian progressive metal, the band released a self-titled recording before dissolving, part of a broader wave of São Paulo acts blending prog and hard rock influences in the late 2010s.

Astral Drowning is a post-black and doom metal project from Mendoza, Argentina, self-described as "melancholic doom black metal from the South," that began with the demo Ocaso in 2013. Their 2022 album Traditional Music from Rooms Underwater, composed over nearly a decade, incorporates melodica, flute, percussion, and field recordings alongside conventional metal instrumentation to create a deeply atmospheric sound.

Asylum was a doom/black metal band from Araguari, Minas Gerais, formed in 2014 and later split-up. Situated in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Minas Gerais — a state with deep roots in Brazilian extreme metal going back to Sepultura and Sarcófago — the band melded the slow, crushing weight of doom metal with the atmospheric coldness of black metal.

Their Bandcamp catalog already includes multiple releases — "I Can't Forgive Myself," "On the Edge of the Cliff," and "Violated" — suggesting a productive start for such a recently formed project.
