Megadriver is one of the originators of the "game metal" subgenre, translating the soundtracks of classic arcade and console games — particularly the Sega Mega Drive library — into full-throttle heavy and power metal arrangements. Over nine studio albums and more than 150 arranged tracks, the project has appeared at festivals including Video Games Live and MAGFest, building a global following among metal fans with a love for retro gaming.

Named after one of the three Erinyes of Greek mythology, Megaira released their debut "Power, Lies and Death" in 2017, a concept album drawing on stories from Greek myth including the Minotaur, Icarus, and the punishing goddesses who lend the band its name. The record pairs guttural death metal vocals from Paulo Schmidt against the clean, heavy metal delivery of Annia Bertoni, layering thrash aggression with melodic power metal hooks and black metal atmosphere.

A death-grind project driven largely by Billy Grind, who handles all instruments and vocals, Megalodon released a self-titled EP in 2018 followed by "Sozinho Contra Todos" in 2022. The project pulls from industrial and electro-grindcore textures while retaining the blasting, short-format brutality expected from the genre.

Formed in Taquara in 1993, Megalon built their sound around the savage intersection of death and thrash metal, channeling science fiction themes through a battery of demos — "Hands of God" (1998) and "Gattaca" (2000) — that drew coverage in national outlets like Rock Brigade magazine. The band was also a driving organizational force behind the local Thrash Attack festival and is documented in the regional rock history documentary "As Pedras do Rio Ligeiro."

Originally active as Megatério from 1986 to 1990, the band reunited in 2006 when all original members crossed paths again at a Slayer concert in São Paulo. Their self-titled comeback album, released in 2008, was recorded at Papiris Studio using compositions written back in 1987, preserving the raw late-eighties thrash aggression that had defined the group's original run.

Melabstra, short for Melodía Abstracta, is a metal band from Medellín, Colombia, active since 2012. The band has built a catalogue spanning multiple releases including the debut EP Abstracción religiosa dualidad imparcial (2012), the full-length El fruto de la discordia (2020), and the album Egocentrismo (2024), with lyrics exploring themes of religion, death, and conflict.

Melanthropy emerged from Curitiba's underground with their debut album "Happiness Remains Shattered" (February 2023), a DSBM record written by multi-instrumentalist Lucas 'Raaski' Rafalski and vocalist Gabriel Henrique that maps the interior landscape of hopelessness through slow-burning, oppressive black metal. The project sits comfortably within the tradition of atmospheric DSBM without straying far from stripped-down, emotionally suffocating song structures.

Melencolia I is a one-man project by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist João P. Amorim Xavier, weaving together atmospheric black metal, doom, shoegaze, and progressive metal into a dense philosophical framework that the artist describes as exploring the depths of human existence through poetic themes. The project released the EP "Introspective Violence" in early 2026, following the earlier full-length "Hermitage."

Melencoliam formed in Uberlândia in 1999 and released the cassette demo "O Infinito Vale da Escuridão" (2001), a recording whose lyrics drew heavily from Dante's Inferno and Milton's Paradise Lost as conceptual touchstones for Satanic black metal. Their full-length "Areloc, O Reino Do Demônio" followed in 2003, cementing a sound rooted in the rawer traditions of the Brazilian black metal underground.
