Aonikenk is a speed metal band from Plaza Huincul, Neuquén, taking their name from the Tehuelche word for "people from the south" in a nod to their Patagonian roots. The band built a catalog of heavy metal albums with socially conscious and nativist themes, including "Sentir Metalero" (2001) and "A Mi Argentina" (2005), the latter released on Icarus Music. Members Daniel Carrasco, Ariel Basualto, and Juanchy Basualto drove the band's distinctly Argentine sound throughout their run.

The band also released the split "Aphorism / Rabujos" and the EP "I" (2014), making them one of the more prolific underground extreme acts to emerge from northeastern Brazil.
