Assembler is a progressive power and groove metal band from Maipú, Chile, formed in 2014 under the name Jala el Gatillo before adopting their current name. Assur was an Epic Black Metal band from Manizales, Caldas, Colombia, formed in 2000. The band released the split Dark Reborn of Frozen Souls in 2003 through Mighty Hordes Productions before eventually disbanding, with their work rooted in themes of paganism and evil.
Astaria is a traditional heavy metal band from the greater Porto Alegre area of Rio Grande do Sul, formed in 2019 across the neighboring cities of Cachoeirinha and Porto Alegre. The band draws from the classic heavy metal canon in the vein of bands that shaped the strong gaúcho metal scene, with clean vocals and melody at the forefront of their approach.
Not to be confused with the legendary 1980s Porto Alegre act of the same name, this Astaroth was a short-lived traditional heavy metal band from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, active briefly around 2020 before splitting up. The city has a storied heavy metal heritage — the original Astaroth released the first heavy metal LP from Rio Grande do Sul in 1986 — and this later outfit carried that name into the modern underground scene.
Astaroth Cult is a one-man melodic and atmospheric black metal project from Minas Gerais, Brazil, the work of solo musician Patryck Leal who handles all instruments, vocals, and lyrics. Formed in 2020 and rooted in the DSBM and raw atmospheric black metal underground, the project released its debut album Return of the Falls in November 2020, blending depressive and Satanic lyrical themes with melodic riffing and cold, harsh production.
Asterean is a melodic black/death metal band from São Paulo, Brazil, that traces its roots to 2011 through a predecessor project called Espera XIII before formalizing under the current name around 2020. The four-piece — featuring Renan Brito on guitars, vocals, and keyboards alongside Fernando Henrique Ribeiro on drums — released their debut full-length Cosmorama in July 2022, a 33-minute record blending nature-themed black metal atmospherics with crushing riffs and cosmic imagery, followed by the Sovereign EP in 2024.
Asterias is a stoner/sludge metal band from San Juan, Argentina, featuring Diego Oliver and Juan Montané sharing guitar and bass duties alongside Rodrigo Cardozo on guitar and Pedro Romano on drums. The quartet released Hijo de una Tormenta in 2021, a record that channels the heavy, riff-driven energy of South American stoner rock into dense, atmospheric territory.
Asterion is a progressive death metal band from Santiago, Chile, formed in 2006, featuring vocalist Matias Ibañez, keyboardist Eliseo Peña, guitarists Mauricio Silva and Alejandro Oliva, bassist Gustavo Miranda, and drummer Jorge Ovalle. The band released their debut album Nihil Perpetuum in 2008 and followed it with Zerzura in 2010 on Australis Records, blending elements of avant-garde, black, death, and doom metal.
Asteroidea was an instrumental progressive metal and shred band from Salvador, Bahia, founded in 2001 by guitarist Patrick Amorim — the name itself derived from the Latin word for the starfish class. Heavily influenced by guitar virtuosos Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen, the group focused on technically demanding original compositions rather than vocals, recording the demo Furthering Your Imagination in 2002 before eventually disbanding.
