Ratos de Porão (Portuguese for "Basement Rats") formed in São Paulo in November 1981 and went on to release Crucificados pelo Sistema in 1984, the first hardcore punk LP issued by a Latin American band. Vocalist João Gordo joined for that debut and has remained the band's frontman ever since; their 1987 album Cada dia mais sujo e agressivo is widely credited as the first Brazilian crossover thrash record of note, and the band has since released more than fourteen studio albums while continuing to tour South America, North America, Europe, and Asia.

Ravenland is a gothic metal band from São Paulo formed in 1997 by Dewindson Wolfheart, who has led the group across multiple active periods separated by a hiatus from 2003 to 2006. Their debut full-length ...And a Crow Brings Me Back was recorded at Fusão VM&T Studios in Cotia over roughly a year and a half and released in July 2009 on Free Mind Records, followed by a second album, When the Night Falls Within Us, in 2015.

Rawattack is a thrash and death metal band from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, formed in 2005. Their debut release Drunk Rawriders from Hell was issued on cassette in 2006 through Vampiria Records in a hand-numbered limited edition of 300 copies, and the nine-track recording established their raw, speed-driven sound with cuts including "The Night of the Cursed Hellhound" and "Hellish Mission."

Rawness is a black-n-roll and metalpunk band from Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina, drawing heavily on the raw sounds of Venom, Motörhead, Discharge, and Midnight. Their self-titled debut album, released on February 20, 2025, features seven tracks including "Warfare Noise," "Black Steel," and a cover of Inepsy's "Bombshell Rocks."

Rawthrone is a two-piece raw black metal band from Rio de Janeiro formed in 2020, consisting of Hellmaniac (vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards) and Splatter (drums). The project released its debut full-length Encased in Darkness in 2020 through Blizzard Records, followed by Crossing Limits — a ten-track album that includes a Darkthrone cover ("Unholy Black Metal") — and Ready to Chaos.

RawWar is a black/death metal project from Belo Horizonte assembled by Valério Exterminator of Holocausto War Metal and Gilson of Goatpenis, with additional contributions from Cernunnos of Wolflust. The project released the album Caído em Batalha in 2021 through WarCore Records, the Belo Horizonte label run by members of Holocausto.

Raza Odiada is a heavy metal band from González Catán, Buenos Aires, Argentina with a prolific output spanning over two decades, including the albums "Cementerio de Mujeres" (2004), "Igual Que Ayer" (2005), "Aca No Se Rinde Nadie" (2019), and "Heavy Metal Circus" (2024). The band's core songwriting has been driven by guitarists Abraham Morales Acosta and vocalist Alberto Escalante Gonzales.

Razón de Acero is a melodic death and groove metal band from Santiago, Chile, formed in 2009. The band — whose name translates to "Reason of Steel" — released their debut EP "Desde El Caos" in 2010 and have remained an independent act throughout their career. Their lyrics center on themes of existentialism, perseverance, and inner struggle.

Razón de Ser is a heavy metal band from Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina featuring vocalist Daniel Baulde, guitarists Miguel González and Ramiro Martínez, bassist Víctor Gómez, and drummer Lorenzo Martins. Their self-titled debut album, released on June 6, 2019, was recognized in the "Headbangers Latinoamérica" survey among South America's most outstanding releases of that year.
