One of the oldest extreme metal bands in Paraná, Morthal trace their origins to 1987 and are often cited as the pioneer of the death/thrash style in the state, performing shows as far as Brasília and Asunción in the mid-1990s and releasing a split LP with Tumulto in 1992 that drew national attention in the underground press. After roughly 18 years of inactivity, the band reformed with vocalist Nilton Bobato and guitarist Zepa Costa among its ranks, picking up where their gritty, war-themed death/thrash left off.

Morthifera is a thrash metal band formed in 2010 in González Catán, Greater Buenos Aires, by drummer Cristian Romero along with guitarist Sergio Noriega. The band built their name on socially charged, working-class-rooted thrash, releasing the EP Régimen de Sangre in 2011, the full-length Basurero Humano through Icarus Music in 2016, and the independently released Apócrifo in 2019.
