Lei do Cão is a crossover thrash band from Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, formed in 2008. Their debut full-length Possuído pelo Tubarão was released in September 2008, delivering eight tracks of fast, aggressive crossover blending thrash and hardcore punk. The band also appeared on a split release with Crippled Fox in 2011, cementing their place in the Brazilian underground crossover scene.
Lelantos is an atmospheric funeral doom metal one-man project from Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, founded in 2016 by multi-instrumentalist Bruno B. Braga. The project released its debut full-length Akrasia in February 2017 through Loneravn Records, a five-part conceptual work featuring ethereal keyboards and clean vocals that explores themes of loneliness and the limits of human will. The band's name is drawn from Greek mythology, where Lelantos was the titan of air, with its root meaning "to move unseen."
Lembrando os Mortos is a black metal project from Chuí, a border town between Brazil and Uruguay, formed in 2013. Their debut demo Ritual de Despedida was released the same year, subsequently issued on CD by Metalthrone Productions and on professional tape by the German label SchattenKult Productionen in 2014. The project has since released additional material including Cerimonias ao Abismo and Na imensa negridão da alma, continuing to explore cold, lo-fi black metal from one of Brazil's southernmost cities.
Lendas Ocultas is a black metal band from Brasília, Brazil, with roots going back to an earlier incarnation active from 1999 to 2005 before reforming around 2014. Their release Orgen Eugnas came out on December 3, 2019 through the German label Wolfmond Production as a limited CDr edition of 100 copies, containing five tracks of raw, anti-Christian black metal. The band's vocalist is also associated with the Haeretikus Production label.
Lenhador is a black metal band from Não-Me-Toque, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, formed in 2005. The band blends raw black metal with crust and punk elements, evidenced across three releases: The Fall of the Wood (2005), Crescente Entropia Universal (2007), and The Pope Smokes Dope (2010), the last issued through Cauterized Productions. Their discography includes covers of Regurgitate and Ildjarn, reflecting a wide-ranging underground sensibility.
Leonin is a progressive rock and power metal project from São Paulo, Brazil, founded in 2015 by guitarist and vocalist Felipe Oliveira. The project debuted with the conceptual EP Céu de Mistérios in June 2017, a four-track work recorded at Lab Mancini that follows the story of a character journeying from childhood dreams into adulthood, featuring a full ensemble including bass, drums, and keyboards. Leonin subsequently released the EP Sonho Vívido and the EP VIVAGORAVAI, building a consistent catalog of melodic, narrative-driven progressive metal.
Lepra is a grindcore band from Moreno, Pernambuco, Brazil, formed in 2019. The band plays what they describe as "rough, fast and chaotic" grindcore rooted in the Pernambuco underground scene, with releases including the 2012 demo, the "Carniceiro" EP, and the full-length "O Ódio é a Minha Existência." They have also contributed tracks to Brazilian tribute compilations honoring Nasum and Agathocles.
Leprosity was a brutal death metal band from Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, active from around 2000 until splitting up. The band recorded the demo "Diabolically" (2004) and contributed the track "Satan My Master" to the Bathory tribute compilation "A Tribute from the Hordes to Bathory." Leprosy is a thrash/death metal band from Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, originally formed in 1989 and revived by its original lineup in 2019 after a 24-year hiatus. Taking influence from bands like Death and Protector, the group recorded new material during the pandemic and released the full-length "Death to This World" in November 2021. The album features tracks such as "Schizophrenia" and "Infernal Massacre" and received positive reception for its dark, aggressive atmosphere.
