Lugubra is a heavy metal band from Bahia, Brazil, formed by vocalist Leonardo Leão, guitarist Rafael Syade, and bassist Marcos Cazé following the dissolution of Drearylands, one of northeast Brazil's most prominent metal acts from 1999 to 2022. The band released their debut album Flores e Pedras in January 2024, blending classic heavy metal with doom, death, and progressive rock influences and Portuguese-language lyrics. They headlined the Palco do Rock festival in Salvador, the largest rock and metal event in northeastern Brazil, at their debut album launch.
Luis Maldonalle is a shred guitarist and composer from Goiânia, Brazil, who has been active since 1988 across both solo and collaborative work. He is a founding guitarist of Insanidade, a Goiânia hard rock and heavy metal band that released the albums Hello Suckers (2020) and High Speed (2021). In 2025 he released Leviathan, a solo album available on all major digital platforms.
Luiz Toffoli is a guitarist, composer, and lyricist from Curitiba, Brazil, whose debut album Enigma Garden was released in 2023. The record blends progressive power metal with classical and Brazilian music influences, drawing comparisons to Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Angra. The album features notable guest performances from vocalist Thiago Bianchi and bassist Felipe Andreoli of Angra.
Lumine Criptica was a gothic metal band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, formed in 2008 with the dual-vocal lineup of Sabrina Filipcic (vocals/keyboards) and Cristian Trefny (bass/growls), alongside guitarists Martín Príncipe and Andrés Bustamante and drummer Tomás Limeres. Their debut album Fading into Darkness (March 2010), recorded at Arkham Studios in Buenos Aires, drew comparisons to Within Temptation, Epica, and Lacuna Coil for its combination of aggressive riffs and melodic female vocals. The band split up after Filipcic departed in 2011, though a later lineup continued until around 2012.
Lumnia is a symphonic metal band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, formed in 2020. The band released their debut album Humanity Despair on March 3, 2023, featuring clean and operatic soprano vocals from Odete Salgado alongside guitars by Hugo Carvalho and Marcel Gil. The record draws on gothic metal influences with prominent violin and piano arrangements and has drawn comparisons to After Forever and Trail of Tears.
Lumnos is the solo atmospheric black metal project of Breno Freire, a multi-instrumentalist from Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil, active since 2015. Freire, who records under the name Putrefactus, released the debut album Ancient Shadows of Saturn in February 2018, a five-track, 51-minute record built around a concept of ancient life on Saturn. The project draws influence from bands such as Mesarthim, Lustre, and Midnight Odyssey, with lyrical themes spanning space, nature, and transcendence.
Lunar Aeon is a black metal band from Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, whose lineup includes members Hades (vocals/guitar), Blackwolf (guitar), and Tenebrous (drums). The band released the EP Veritas Lúcifer in 2019, a six-track recording centered on Satanic and occult themes, recorded and mixed at Caverna Studio by Cláudio Renato.
Lunarie is a Brazilian raw black metal project formed in 2024, operating independently and releasing material through their own Bandcamp page. In their debut year the project issued at least two recordings, Dawn of the Satanic Order and Natural Obsolescence, establishing a stripped-back, lo-fi aesthetic typical of the raw black metal underground.
Lusferus is a black metal band from Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, active since the mid-2000s and currently signed to Eternal Hatred Records. Their 2013 album Black Seeds ov Obscure Arts, written and recorded between March and October 2012, draws on Satanic and occult themes and showcases the band's dense, atmospheric approach to the genre.
