N.S.Y.R.A. is the solo project of a musician working under the name Seektor, based in São Gonçalo — a sprawling city of more than a million people across the bay from Rio de Janeiro, part of the greater metropolitan area but with a distinct, working-class identity all its own. The project sits in the atmospheric funeral doom and death-doom tradition, working at the glacial tempos and crushing weight that have defined the genre since Thergothon and Skepticism mapped it out in the 1990s. Seektor has cycled through previous identities — Innerlike Stryd from 2019 to 2022, then Ectoplasmic Anomaly from 2023 to 2024 — before settling on N.S.Y.R.A. in 2024, a trajectory that mirrors how many one-person funeral doom projects evolve as the musician refines their conceptual frame. The debut EP 'Transitus ad Aeternitatem,' released in late 2025, threads dense, briefly aggressive passages through serene, oceanic stretches, holding to a melancholic atmosphere that the project describes as central to its identity. The five-track sequence — Intro, the title piece, Consumptus, Dominus Marium and Abyssalis — leans on Latin and aquatic imagery that connects funeral doom's death-fixated tradition to broader contemplations of dissolution and infinity. Brazilian funeral doom is a quietly active corner of the country's extreme-metal underground, mostly populated by solo projects working out of bedroom studios — a configuration that suits the genre's introspection.
