Sotana is a grindcore/death metal trio from Mar del Plata, Argentina, formed as a family project by Flavio Cianciarulo (bass, known as the bassist of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs) alongside his sons Jay Cianciarulo (guitar and vocals) and Astor Cianciarulo (drums). The band recorded and released their debut album "Secta del Acantilado" through Icarus Music in 2018 in just two days, delivering twelve tracks of raw extreme metal inspired by the dramatic cliffsides near their home in Chapadmalal.

They released a self-titled EP through Grindhead Records in August 2014, contributed a track to Siege of Grind: A Brazilian Tribute to Napalm Death (Terceiro Mundo Chaos Discos, 2013), and have issued splits with U.S. grindcore acts PLF and Pretty Little Flower.

The lineup expanded to include vocalist Marco Saturnino and drummer Osmar Jr, and the band released a self-titled recording in March 2015 followed by the EP O Templo da Cegueira in October 2020, the latter recorded live at Estudio Badaroska in São Paulo.

Their debut album I Spit on Your God, a 31-track, 29-minute record, was recorded at GrindHouse Studio in 2016 and released in 2017 on Rip Roaring Shit Storm Records as a cassette limited to 50 copies. The band also released the 7" EP Romantic Baphomet in 2016, hand-numbered and limited to 66 copies.
