Pelotas, BR · 2013–present · active
Originally operating as Postmortem since 2004, this quartet from Pelotas rebranded to Postmortem Inc to avoid confusion with a German band of the same name, with the core lineup of Bruno Añaña (vocals/guitar), Douglas Veiga (drums), Mou Machado (guitar), and Juliano Pacheco (bass) having solidified around 2010. Their sound alternates between brutal, technical, and rhythmic death metal riffing, with lyrics drawing on philosophy, social violence, and the horrors of war. They released the Latin-titled EP "Atra Mors" through Rapture Records in 2013 before issuing their full-length debut "The Conqueror Worm" in 2020, a record conceptually rooted in Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name.
Belo Horizonte, BR · 2010–present · active
Preceptor play a bludgeoning style of death metal with roots in the early nineties, pairing torn riffs and brutal vocals with an uncompromising underground attitude. Their 2017 album Dogmatismo was recorded at Estúdio Riff and mixed by Dennis Israel, followed by Súditos do Abismo in 2022 — a record built around Bruno's guitar work and Alexander The Abyss's lyrics.
Euclides da Cunha, BR · 2024–present · active
One-person black/death metal project from Athayde Neto, a prolific Bahian extreme metal figure also behind Adumbrall, Töhil, Cosmic Sepulcher, and Wiseblood. Primitive Enchantment channels the rawer, more chaotic end of his output, rooted in the convergence of second-wave black metal atmosphere and death metal brutality.
Natal, BR · 2015–present · active
Death metal band from Rio Grande do Norte with a persistent fixation on ancient Egyptian mythology, a concept embedded since their early demo "The Sacred Valley of the Kings" (2002). Their two full-lengths on Rising Records — "Todtenbuch" (2014) and "Old Gods" (2017) — incorporate keyboards and atmospheric textures alongside traditional death metal structures, with Gerson Lima (vocals) and Lux Tenebrae (guitar) anchoring the lineup.
