One of the more enduring forces in the Brazilian black metal underground, Malkuth have been operating out of the Pernambuco region since 1993, building an extensive discography rooted in occultism, Lovecraftian horror, and anti-Christian war metal. Their 2018 seventh studio album "Voodoo," released through Obskure Chaos Distro, marks three decades of unrelenting devotion to extreme and esoteric darkness.
Malleus have been forging cold, orthodox black metal from Rio de Janeiro since the mid-2000s, releasing albums like "Verum Legis" and the split "Underworld Dominion" with Sonneillon through Anaites Records. Their sound draws from the austere, second-wave tradition — stripped-down production, tremolo-heavy riffing, and a devotion to atmosphere over spectacle.
Marbas Valfoerd is a Buenos Aires black metal project that released its debut full-length Primus Omen Op.1 on February 22, 2021. The project also collaborates with fellow Argentine musician Blatt Siro under the name Argiaren, which issued the instrumental release Fragmento 1 in April 2022.
Masochrist was a black metal band from the Florianópolis/São José area that emerged in 2011 and released a run of compact, raw recordings before splitting up. Their debut EP Enter The Masochrist (2011) was followed quickly by Karmageddon (2012), both leaning into a corrosive, lo-fi black metal attack rooted in Satanic and misanthropic themes.
Mausoleum were a death/black metal outfit from São Paulo whose lyrical themes circled around paganism and occultism, a common thread running through releases spanning compilations such as "Southern Warriors Cult #1" (1999) and "War... Satanic Victory!!!" (2003). Their output also included "10 Anos de Bestial Massacre" in 2004 and "O Retorno à Batalha" in 2006, cementing a two-decade presence in the Brazilian underground before the band eventually dissolved.
Melencoliam formed in Uberlândia in 1999 and released the cassette demo "O Infinito Vale da Escuridão" (2001), a recording whose lyrics drew heavily from Dante's Inferno and Milton's Paradise Lost as conceptual touchstones for Satanic black metal. Their full-length "Areloc, O Reino Do Demônio" followed in 2003, cementing a sound rooted in the rawer traditions of the Brazilian black metal underground.
Mephitic Tomb is a raw death/black metal project steeped in the pestilential South American underground tradition, channeling blasphemous hostility through a sound informed by anti-religious and Cthulhu Mythos themes. Formed in 2024, the project draws on the volatile heritage of the region's extreme metal underground, producing tracks such as 'Cursed by Coffin Joe' and 'Leather, Chains, Hooks, Sex' with uncompromising ferocity.
Mezexis is a Chilean black metal band that plays raw, stripped-down black metal characterized by simple riffs, basic drums, and rough reverb-drenched vocals. The band released their debut Demo I in 2022 as a self-released cassette, a two-track recording clocking in at just over seven minutes.
A one-person old-school death/black metal project helmed by Terror Holocausto, who handles all instruments and vocals drawing from 90s North American and Brazilian extremity. The debut EP "Before Coffins, Hells and Nightmares" (2021), released through Cianeto Discos, was recorded at Terror Holocausto's own home studio in Bahia and captures a raw, cavernous sound rooted firmly in the early death/black tradition.
