Labyrinth Spell is a black metal band from Serra, Espírito Santo, Brazil, active since 2001 with a discography spanning over two decades. The band blends pagan and occult themes throughout releases including Shadows and Dust (2017, Sulphur Records), Mountains Enthoned (2014), and At the Blackest Corners of Existence (2020). Their debut self-titled album dates to 2001, and Walking Through the Fire appeared in 2023.
Lado Obscuro is a black metal band from Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, operating in the tradition of Satanic and anti-Christian underground black metal. The band released the 7-inch Senhor das Trevas in 2006 on Intolerant Records, limited to 500 hand-numbered copies, alongside the demo Triunfo no Inferno issued the same year.
Laftrache are a black metal and folk band from Villa Alemana, Chile, whose music draws from the legends of the Mapuche and Selknam peoples of southern South America. Their 2017 demo Voces Ancestrales features the Trutruca — a trumpet-like instrument made from colihue wood and cattle horn, created by the Mapuche — as well as a spoken-word sample of a native Selknam woman on the track "El Clamor Selknam." The band was released through Chilean underground label Kuyen Producciones.
Lammashta is a death/black metal band from Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil, active since the early 2000s on the Sociedade dos Mortos label. The band cites influences including Immolation, Grave Miasma, and Deicide, and released the full-length "The Pandemonium Begins Here" in 2017 followed by "Anonymous: The Curse of Lammashta" in 2018. Both albums were recorded at DBS Sound Studio in Maceió and showcase the band's blasting, war-metal-adjacent approach to the genre.
Langor is a raw black metal duo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, active since 2012. The band released the demo "Inferno Astral" in 2021 through Necroeucharist Productions in a limited cassette edition of 100 copies. Their sound occupies the rawer, stripped-down end of the Brazilian black metal underground.
Laracna is a black metal band from Cascavel, Paraná, Brazil, formed in 2009 as a two-piece project. The band released their debut demo Cursed God in 2010, with themes centered on anti-religion, philosophy, and history. The project features Sabrahmon on guitar and bass and Midgard on drums and vocals.
Lastima were a black metal and grindcore band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The band appeared on the limited compilation Satã Apareça II (Metal Reunion, 2016), a release pressed to 50 copies, with themes exploring apocalypse, anti-religion, and the self-destruction of humanity. They have since split up.
Legio Inferi is a depressive occult black metal band from Campos do Jordão, São Paulo, Brazil, crafting rustic black metal with melancholic passages and dissonant harmonies centered on themes of anti-life, death, and the occult. The band released the full-length Tragédias do Infinito Nascer in 2014 and the EP The Black Host through Plague Demon Records, as well as a split with Namtaru titled That Is Not Dead Which Can Eternal Lie in 2021.
Lembrando os Mortos is a black metal project from Chuí, a border town between Brazil and Uruguay, formed in 2013. Their debut demo Ritual de Despedida was released the same year, subsequently issued on CD by Metalthrone Productions and on professional tape by the German label SchattenKult Productionen in 2014. The project has since released additional material including Cerimonias ao Abismo and Na imensa negridão da alma, continuing to explore cold, lo-fi black metal from one of Brazil's southernmost cities.
