Disharmonious

Disharmonious is a Sao Paulo death metal and grindcore act, currently active and unsigned, listed on the Encyclopaedia Metallum with the city of Sao Paulo as their origin and death metal as their primary classification. Beyond that bare entry, public documentation of the band is thin, which is itself characteristic of the part of the Sao Paulo extreme underground they belong to. Sao Paulo, alongside Belo Horizonte, is one of the two historical centers of Brazilian extreme metal: it is the city of Krisiun, Rebaelliun, Torture Squad, and a long roster of grind and death acts including Desalmado and the more recent crop of bands working out of small DIY rooms in the eastern and southern zones of the city. Disharmonious's self-presentation on Bandcamp leans into both death metal and grindcore as tags, situating them in the same deathgrind territory the city has produced consistently since the late 1990s, where short, blasted song forms sit next to slower, riff-driven sections. Their release 'Flesh' is the public document of that approach. The title is in English rather than Portuguese, in line with the longstanding Brazilian death and grind convention of writing in the lingua franca of international tape and CD trading. Without verifiable interviews, fanzine coverage, or a metal-archives biography, it is difficult to date a formation year or trace a member lineage. What is verifiable is the band's geographic and stylistic placement: a small, working extreme-metal project in the larger Sao Paulo network of underground rooms, splits, and self-released material, operating in the same deathgrind tradition that has defined the city's heavier end of the scene for the better part of three decades.
