Diabolichaos

Diabolichaos is a one-man black metal project from Varginha, in the south of Minas Gerais, founded and operated by the musician Nahash, who also performs under the alias Necrodaemon. The project's catalogue on the Encyclopaedia Metallum lists the 2016 demo Quintessence among its releases, alongside the Unorthodox material, both issued independently in digital form via the underground tape and download circuit. No official reviews have surfaced for Quintessence on the Archives, which is consistent with the deliberately isolated and self-released character of the project, but Diabolichaos's principal has been documented elsewhere in the Brazilian scene: in a 2019 interview with OccultBlackMetalZine, the Brazilian black metal band Repúdio's leader Hellblast describes inviting Necrodaemon of Diabolichaos to play guitar in Repúdio in late 2017, before Necrodaemon departed and was replaced. That cross-pollination places Diabolichaos firmly within the southern Minas Gerais black metal network of small towns such as Varginha and Passos, a regional scene that has long stood in the shadow of Belo Horizonte's foundational extreme tradition built by Sarcófago, Mutilator and Holocausto from the mid-1980s onward. Where the Belo Horizonte sound carried Brazilian black metal into Norwegian inner circles in the late 1980s, the more recent generation of Mineiro projects like Diabolichaos has tended toward the solitary studio model: one author, raw production, occult thematic content and limited digital releases circulated through Metal Archives entries, Bandcamp pages and word of mouth across the interior of Minas. The project remains active under Nahash's direction.
