Cadaveric Remains

Born in 2024 in the small interior town of São Brás do Suaçuí, deep in the iron-and-gold hills of Minas Gerais, Cadaveric Remains arrive as a young addition to a state whose name still functions as shorthand for Brazilian extremity. They emerge from the same Minas hinterlands that, decades earlier, produced Sepultura, Sarcófago, Mutilator, and Holocausto from nearby Belo Horizonte and Contagem — a lineage whose ramshackle rehearsal-room ferocity helped invent first-wave South American death and black metal. Cadaveric Remains stake their territory firmly inside that old-school tradition rather than chasing modern tech-death polish: their stated thematic palette of death, rebellion, gore, and horror reads like a pact with the cassette-trading underground of the late eighties, and their independent, unsigned status keeps them on the same DIY footing as the small Minas labels and zine-circuit bands they orbit. Their debut EP, God of All Plagues, surfaced in February 2025, an opening salvo recorded and released entirely under their own banner — six months of activity, one tape's worth of evidence, and a name lifted straight from the morgue lexicon their region practically franchised. Within the broader Minas death-metal ecosystem, where veterans like Krisiun's collaborators and newer brutality acts share festival bills with classic-era survivors, Cadaveric Remains represent the steady generational refresh that keeps the state's reputation breathing. They are interior-born rather than capital-born, which matters in a scene historically driven by satellite towns and Sunday-bus rehearsals, and the rebellion in their themes carries the specific weight of being young, broke, and several hours from the nearest metal club. For now, they are a band measured in one EP and a region's worth of inherited menace — but in Minas Gerais, that has always been enough to begin with.
