Autrest is the atmospheric black metal solo project of Matheus Vidor from the mountainous region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, founded in winter 2022. Drawing on nature-influenced acts like Saor, Caladan Brood, and Eldamar, the project incorporates field recordings of forests and mountains into its compositions; the debut album "Follow the Cold Path" (2023, Northern Silence Productions) earned widespread critical acclaim, with a follow-up "Burning Embers, Forgotten Wolves" cementing Autrest as one of Brazil's standout atmospheric black metal exports.
