He rose to international fame as the founding vocalist of Angra — whose debut "Angels Cry" (1993) broke through in Japan and Europe — and later fronted Shaman before dedicating his final years to a solo career that launched in earnest around 2012; following his death from a heart attack in 2019, São Paulo's mayor declared June 8 as the city's Heavy Metal Day in his honor.
