Active within Brazil's contemporary underground scene, the band represents the country's ongoing absorption and reinterpretation of international heavy subgenres through a distinctly South American lens. They distribute their music independently through Bandcamp.

Apoteom is a groove metal band from Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, whose roots trace back to a project started in 2007 by guitarists Pedro Ferreira and Maurício Torres. The band evolved from a thrash-heavy debut, Alienation (2013), through the groove-forward Paper God (2016) and into their third album Beautiful Lies (2023), steadily building a reputation in the southern Brazilian metal circuit.
