Quiáltera

Quiáltera is a progressive metal band from São Paulo, Brazil, formed in 2011 — a fitting birthplace, given that São Paulo and the wider country have produced some of the genre's most respected names, from the neoclassical flights of Angra to the technical heft of bands that followed. The project was assembled around bassist Yuri Deryous alongside drummer Emerson Sant'anna and guitarists Victor Paron and Vinicius Sant'anna, a lineup weighted toward instrumental interplay from the outset. That same year they issued a demo titled 'Bicho Instrumental', a release that paired their own original compositions with interpretations of varied instrumental pieces — a telling statement of intent from a band more interested in musicianship, arrangement and dialogue between players than in conventional verse-chorus songcraft.
