Pogo Zero Zero

Pogo Zero Zero, often abbreviated PZZ, are a crossover thrash band from Florianópolis, the island capital of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, formed in 2003. For two decades they have been a fixture of the city's fertile underground, where bands like the long-running Eutha Hardcore and thrashers Red Razor and Rest in Chaos keep a DIY flame burning. As their name's punk-pit imagery suggests, PZZ fuse the speed and riffing aggression of thrash metal with the raw urgency and shout-along ethos of hardcore and punk, the classic crossover collision pioneered by the likes of D.R.I. and, closer to home, Brazilian forefathers Ratos de Porão and Cólera. The band is anchored by vocalist Guilherme Bridon and guitarist Rodrigo Ulrich, founding members and principal songwriters who have steered the group since its inception, rounded out into a quintet by guitarist Guilherme Garbelotto, bassist Thiago Telles and drummer Lédis Ferreira. Their lyrics are fueled by indignation, taking a sharply critical stance on political and social injustice as well as religion, in keeping with the confrontational, conscience-driven tradition of Brazilian hardcore. Over the years PZZ have built their reputation onstage, sharing bills with respected acts including thrash trio Nervosa, Surra, Gritando HC, the legendary Cólera and Finnish punk veterans Rattus. After releasing a four-track demo in 2013, the band marked their twentieth anniversary by issuing their first full-length album, 'Pátria que nos pariu', a twelve-song set whose pointed title reflects their politically charged outlook, released on digital platforms and CD. Embodying the underground persistence and combative spirit that defines the genre, Pogo Zero Zero stand as durable veterans of the Florianópolis crossover scene, channeling decades of pit-tested energy into a sound built for sweaty rooms and raised fists.
