Pilares do Sol

Pilares do Sol are a melodic power metal band from João Pessoa, the sun-soaked capital of Paraíba in Brazil's northeast, formed in 2023 from the union of seasoned local musicians. The core lineup emerged from guitarist Mad Ferreira, bassist Dotan Flávio and drummer Vitor Alves, later joined by second guitarist Matheus França and vocalists Junior Andrade and Leonardo Diniz, the latter officially integrating the formation in 2025. Their sound channels the soaring, neoclassically-tinged European power metal lineage of Stratovarius and Helloween, all galloping double-bass, twin-guitar harmonies and anthemic, sky-reaching choruses, while leaving room for modern textures and subtle Brazilian and Latin rhythmic accents that root the band firmly in its tropical homeland rather than merely imitating its Scandinavian forebears. Lyrically, Pilares do Sol reach beyond standard fantasy fare toward themes of an anthropological and philosophical bent, exploring altruism, perseverance and the human condition with an earnestness that mirrors the genre's traditionally uplifting spirit. The band announced itself with the debut single 'Beam of Light', issued to digital platforms with an accompanying music video and hailed as a promising revelation of the Brazilian power metal scene. They followed it with 'O Tempo que não vai voltar', a track sung entirely in Portuguese by Junior Andrade featuring a guest appearance from Pedro Campos and recorded at Music Obsession Studio in João Pessoa, signaling a willingness to alternate between English and their native tongue. Both singles serve as advance salvos for a debut full-length the group has been assembling in the studio, promised to feature special guest participations. Operating in a region better known for sun and sea than for epic metal, Pilares do Sol represent the genre's continuing vitality across Brazil's far-flung scenes, carrying the melodic power metal torch with conviction, melodic ambition and a distinctly northeastern Brazilian identity.
