Metalliance

Metalliance is based in Pinhais, a city in the immediate metropolitan ring of Curitiba and effectively part of the same metal ecosystem that has sustained the Paraná capital's scene for decades. Curitiba's underground has long had a distinct character relative to the southeastern axis: cooler in climate and tone, more open to European traditional and power-metal influence than the tribal-thrash and death-metal directions that dominate São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, and home to bands ranging from the long-running classic-heavy outfits of the 1990s to the more recent groove and melodic-death wave. Metalliance works the heavy/thrash crossover lane that is one of Curitiba's natural specialties, drawing on the Bay Area thrash playbook and the NWOBHM-rooted heavy-metal tradition in roughly equal measure. The 2020 album Going So Far Beyond is the band's flagship statement, and like much of the contemporary Paraná heavy-thrash output it favors riff economy, traditional song structures, and the kind of melodic lead playing that connects more directly to Maiden and Megadeth than to the blasting extremity of the country's death-metal mainstream. The lineup, anchored by guitarist-vocalist Willians Lino and bassist Alexandre Filipi, has built a small but consistent catalog of singles and longer releases through the late 2010s and into the 2020s, working the same regional circuit of clubs, festivals, and tribute nights that supports neighboring Curitiba acts. Pinhais itself is the kind of dormitory city whose cultural life bleeds directly into the central capital, and Metalliance is functionally a Greater Curitiba band: representative of the steady, classic-leaning Paraná heavy-thrash scene that operates without much international visibility but keeps the southern Brazilian metal calendar moving.
