Marccon is a one-man project operating out of Paraná, working at the seam where atmospheric black metal, shoegaze, and the depressive post-black tradition all meet — a sonic territory that has produced one of Brazil's busiest underground subgenres over the last decade. The project's earliest releases leaned harder on the shoegaze-black hybrid pioneered abroad by Alcest, Lantlos, and Deafheaven, but Marccon's prolific recent output — including Onde o Ceu Desaba and Nihil in 2025 and the upcoming Fames Aeternum slated for 2026 — has shifted further into depressive and atmospheric post-black territory, where slow chord progressions, layered tremolo guitars, and corroded vocal lines do the heavy lifting instead of blast beats. Brazil has quietly become one of the most populated countries on the global DSBM map, with an entire Facebook ecosystem dedicated to Depressive Suicidal Black Metal Brazil and dozens of bedroom projects feeding the network; Marccon belongs squarely to this generation, sitting alongside compatriots like Mepth and a long tail of Bandcamp-native solo acts whose entire output exists outside the traditional label and festival circuit. The Parana connection matters in a Brazilian black-metal context — the southern states have historically been more receptive to the genre's colder, more melodic register than the death-metal-dominant southeast, and Marccon's atmospheric tilt fits that regional inclination.
