Kharaxul

Kharaxul was a black metal project formed in Londrina, Paraná in 2022, organizing itself explicitly around the lyrical and ideological coordinates of RABM — red and anarchist black metal — with stated themes spanning anti-fascism, class struggle, communism, equality, and war. RABM emerged as a global tendency in the late 2000s, with bands such as Iskra, Panopticon, and Skagos using the formal vocabulary of black metal — tremolo guitar, blastbeats, shrieked vocals — to advance left-libertarian rather than nihilist or satanic politics. Brazil developed its own RABM cohort early: Nuclear Frost in São Paulo, Corubo in Rondônia (whose songs address violence against Indigenous communities), Nunca in Araras, and Hereticae in Londrina itself. Kharaxul slotted directly into this regional lineage; Londrina is a mid-sized Paraná city with an unusually densely organized underground that crosses freely between crust grindcore, hardcore punk, and politically engaged black metal, anchored by long-running DIY festivals like Londrinoise and the Festival Metalverso. The project's debut release O Sentido Só Pode Ser arrived on Bandcamp in July 2022, written in Portuguese — a choice that carries political weight in a subgenre whose international branches still default to English. That Kharaxul has since split is, in the RABM context, less a failure than a typical arc: politically explicit black metal projects tend to be short-lived, intentionally so, with members rotating into new bands and zines as immediate conditions shift. The catalog stands as a Paraná-rooted document of Brazilian anti-fascist black metal at a politically combustible moment.
