Immanitas

Immanitas operate from Ponta Grossa, the Campos Gerais city set on the planalto of central Paraná that has nurtured a stubbornly self-contained underground scene for more than three decades. The city's metal history runs through venues like Bar do Tim in the 1990s, then Invisibilium, Bola 13, Coco Loco, Rockdelirius and Pub Underground from the 2000s onward, and bands like Execrate - whose 1996 demo 'Mysteries About the Soul' has become a cult artefact in the regional canon. Immanitas inherit that lineage and push it toward ambient black metal: tremolo guitars that prize harmonic colour over riff hooks, drums built around the long arc rather than the blast sprint, vocals used as texture as often as as a frontline instrument. The Latin name - meaning savagery, brutality, monstrousness - sets the lyrical and aesthetic temperature even before the first note: this is black metal that takes the second-wave Scandinavian template (Burzum's atmospheric solitude, Ulver's pastoral coldness, early Drudkh's expansive folk-blackness) and reroutes it through the high, cool plateau of central Paraná, where the climate, the dry winters and the open horizon supply their own kind of melancholy. Ponta Grossa sits roughly equidistant from Curitiba and the Campos Gerais farmland that surrounds it, and that liminality - urban enough to sustain a scene, remote enough to keep its sound from being homogenised by trends - colours the work. Immanitas write in the long-form vein the genre demands: tracks that breathe, build and recede, more concerned with atmosphere and immersion than with hooks or speed. The Encyclopaedia Metallum entry and the persistent presence in regional underground archives suggest a project committed to the slow accretion of demos and limited releases rather than to chasing visibility.
