Devil Mantra

Devil Mantra are a Brazilian blackened deathcore project whose footprint has grown across streaming and SoundCloud since the early 2020s — an Apple Music artist page (ID 1512807710) and a Spotify single dated 2020 mark their earliest official appearances, and their Deezer and Last.fm profiles confirm their categorisation within the blackened-deathcore tag, the same niche occupied internationally by bands like Lorna Shore, Worm Shepherd and Shadow of Intent. Their output has rolled out single by single rather than as a sudden album drop: Empire of the Damned in 2022, followed in 2023 by Hellbound, Inferius (uploaded to SoundCloud in February of that year) and The Fallen God, before the project consolidated those tracks alongside new material — Vultures among them — into the 2024 LP The One Who Came From The Shadows. Lyrically the project trades in the genre's standard demonological vocabulary: lyrics-aggregator sites carrying the Inferius transcript record lines lamenting an existence without purpose, life, love or future — the existential-infernal posture that distinguishes blackened deathcore from its purely chug-and-breakdown ancestors. Musically the band fold tremolo-picked, dissonant black metal melodicism over deathcore's slammed gravity-blast and breakdown architecture, a formula Brazil's broader extreme-metal community has been catching up to in real time: Brazil's deathcore presence has historically been weighted toward acts like Mortal Decay-influenced slam and the country's celebrated all-female deathcore band, with the blackened wing still small enough that any serious entrant — Devil Mantra included — meaningfully expands the national map.
